The English Football Premier Championship, which started mid-August this year, is one of the most watched and lucrative championships amongst football lovers across the world.

Many fans gather to cheer their respective teams, with great hopes that these teams win the championship at all costs! Not only is money spent but also players spend many days doing rigorous exercises to make sure they win the game and receive the very coveted trophy at the end of the season.

For the Christian Race, the writer of the book of Hebrews, most likely Apostle Paul, in verse 1-2, put it this way: ‘Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, [2] Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.’

Paul reminds us that the moment you become born again, you enter the Christian race which end point is the eternal life crown (John 3:16). The difference between Christian life and the English Premier is that all who believe in Jesus are automatic winners and, therefore, receive eternal crowns.

This is because Jesus Christ won the race when he resurrected from the dead and everyone who believes in Him becomes a winner! In 1 Peter 5:4, we read: ‘…when the Chief Shepherd appears (Jesus Christ), you will receive the unfading crown of glory’. Our team leader, Jesus Christ, is victorious and won the race on our behalf.

If you have never joined this winning team today is your day. The Bible says that today if you hear His voice, do not stiffen your neck, repent, believe in Jesus, and you will be saved.
