I strongly believe that God wants us to consider the end of a matter before we start.

We are coming to the close of 2021 and so many things could have happened throughout the year. Many plans could have come through and of course, most of us have encountered overwhelming challenges this year, but thank God it is coming to an end.

God has a new season ahead. It is time to lift our heads and see what the year 2022 has in store.

Let go of your past
You have to let go of what could have frustrated you before, so as to move to what will possibly be great in the years ahead.

The Bible says in Luke 14:28-30: “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish?”’

God would like us to enjoy the fruit of success by accomplishing every task we set our hands on.

I have discovered that some of my lowest moments have come from botched, not well-thought through pursuits and pending or unfinished projects.

Regardless, we must know that God is a planner and wants us to reflect on and plan for the season ahead.

Proverbs 16:9
“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”

If we are to follow the pattern of the Bible, we have to consider how God does His works. He seems to always have the end in mind.

What do you see God doing for you and through you in the seasons ahead? You need to take time to think and plan or prepare.

The Bible says in Isaiah 46:10: “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”

How does this attitude help us? There are five ways it helps:

  1. It helps us to prepare to pay the price in case things do not turn out the way we expected.
  2. It helps us to number our days and develop a heart full of wisdom.
Psalms 90:12: “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
  3. Experience victory each time and so always have our joy. This is the will of God for us according to 3 John 1:2: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
  4. So that we can stay on the course against all odds. Romans 4:20-21: “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.”
  5. So that we can build faith for the next challenge. You need some testimonies in your life. Testimonies show the glory and power of God. They also inspire people to trust in Him.

1Samuel 17:34-35
“But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it’.” David’s testimony was uplifting and showed God’s power in him.

I talk to young women who are in a relationship but cannot tell where it is going, and cannot describe the frustration they are bottling.

Sometimes it is wise to just clear your plate, so you can serve a meal you will enjoy.

Your situation may not be a relationship issue; it may be something else holding you back and you are not sure what will follow if you let go.

But be encouraged that letting go and starting afresh is worth a try.

In this season of visitation, I personally would like to get rid of unfinished or dragging ‘projects’, create new energy for the road ahead and run with joy.

What is the Lord saying to you about this reflection?

God bless you.

Have a blessed Christmas this year and Happy New Year!
