Jesus is the greatest physician that ever lived. Jesus, being God, healed every kind of illness. He never sent anybody away. Every illness that affects man obeyed His command.

He still heals. As a physician for over 40 years, I have met many top physicians during my training. I have also met many patients with illnesses that we could not treat. When I once worked in a cancer ward, many of our patients could not be helped.

After my internship, I worked in Butabika mental hospital. All we could give was just scratching the tip of the iceberg. None of the patients I treated got healed. Yes, many of these patients’ symptoms improved, but there was no healing.

When Jesus turns up

It is very interesting to note that every chapter in the Bible speaks about Him. Prophet Isaiah, who lived 700 years before Jesus was born, gives this prophesy about Him in reference to healing of our bodies. Isaiah 53:1-5,8 KJV: “Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed?

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [8] He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”

Also Malachi gives this prophesy

Malachi 4:2 KJV: “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”

In the Gospels, there are countless incidents of Jesus healing everybody who came to Him. He never sent away any patient because He could not do it or because the patient was too old and would die anyway; so, there was no point to heal him.

No. I once worked with a very prominent orthopedic surgeon in a hospital in England. During my training, a 93-year-old man got involved in an accident and fractured his hip. I attended to him.

My boss came during the ward round, and told me and other senior doctors who were under him: “Give him ‘TLC’ only.” I tried to protest that we should treat this man, but the doctor couldn’t listen. I believe down in his heart he wanted to sack me. I felt this.

I was the only black doctor in that group. I was very much aggrieved and left that hospital with my newly married wife to seek work at another hospital. This so-called prominent surgeon was merciless; he feared not God. This patient would have survived if we treated his broken hip.

If Jesus had been there, what would He tell this surgeon? What would Jesus have done? Jesus never turned away any of His patients or condemned them to death like this surgeon did. Abraham and Sarah got healed of infertility at the age of 100 and 90, respectively. I am sure the doctors in their days turned them down because of their age. But thanks be to God, He attended to their need and they had a child – Isaac.

God will never turn us down if we come to Him. The New Testament speaks much about the healing power of Jesus. Matthew 9:35 KJV: “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” Today we have been attacked by Coronavirus. We are reading about many people being affected. It has become a pandemic.

Jesus heals Peter’s motherin-law

Peter’s mother-in-law was suffering from a fever. It could have been a virus, bacteria or malaria. Whatever the cause, Jesus touched her and rebuked this fever and instantly she was healed. Mathew 8:14-17 KJV: “And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.

And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” Dear friend, put your trust in the Lord.

If you have never received Him, today you can. This is a personal relationship with God who created you. Stay blessed! Read Roman 10:9-10.
