God’s providence amidst human worries

“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

In his letter to the Hebrews in chapter 11, Apostle Paul narrates in detail examples of what faith is and how we can get what we want if we apply the same to our daily lives.

Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Faith is believing something you have not seen, but you trust and believe that God will make it happen because, with God, nothing is impossible.

Seeking the Kingdom
What does it mean? If we do this, then, a breakthrough will happen.

“All those things” will come to pass. For example, on the day of Pentecost, Apostle Peter wrote: “In Him, we move, live and have our being” (Acts 17:28).

When we get soaked with Jesus, no matter what it is, all our provisions, present and future will be supplied. This life of faith depends on God and no other external sources.

Jesus goes ahead to give examples of how He feeds the flowers, birds and other creatures that are inferior to human.
He says if He can take care of these, what about us whom He loved and came to redeem?

Jesus invites us to put Him first and deny anything the world throws at us. We need to share the Gospel and live in righteousness.

Seeking the Kingdom entails daily fellowship with God, coupled with prayer, reading the Bible and worshipping Him daily.

Once we do this, everything we need will start chasing after us, and the reverse is true.

Like the birds that feed everyday, yet they neither sow nor harvest any crop, God always provides for those who trust, believe in and pray unto Him. (Photo/Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest)

Worries
Jesus was very much aware of what our needs are as human beings:
1- Eating
2- Drinking
3- Clothing
4- Housing, and
5- Finances
The above are the most important necessities of life which drive us to go to school so that we can secure a good career that would help us meet all those needs.

When we start getting worried about any of the above, doubts start to creep in, and once this sets in, we fail to trust God, our overall supplier of all things.

This becomes the opposite of faith. We become unbelievers. But God only works depending on our faith.

Without faith in God, divine providence makes no sense. God does not play favouritism. So, whoever believes and trusts Him will be blessed because God honours those who have faith in Him.

Personal Testimony
In 2012, I was in the surgeon’s room after I had just carried out a surgery. This was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

I was alone in the room and the Lord impressed me to kneel and claim the hospital to become ours. I prayed and claimed the hospital to become ours for God’s Kingdom.

I remembered Jeremiah 1:5 which says: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Humanly speaking, it would seem impossible. It was like David putting Goliath to obedience, but I claimed it.

Six months later, my driver, a Christian, had a dream that I had a big hospital in Dar es Salaam.

When he told me, I asked the Lord, “how”? I had even forgotten about what I had claimed and prayed for.

In late 2015, this hospital went under receivership by court order due to financial problems.

Bids were put up and by faith and prayer, I also put in my bid regardless of having no money in cash to make this bid.

We were around five bidders. To cut a long story short, we won the bid without putting in any single coin.

We got the hospital and named it “Sali International Hospital” (www.salihospital.com).

We are still operational up to this day. This must be God and not Dr Sali, Mrs Sali, or anybody else. We give God the Glory.

Child of God, just to remind you what Jesus told the woman at the well: “Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water” (John 4:10).

Additionally, I encourage you to read the whole chapter of Psalm 23, because it gives us another insight into God’s provision.

The whole of this Psalm is about God’s Providence.
