I am reminded of the story of a young man who made a tragic decision to take his life in an attempt to escape misery and pain. He planned to cast himself in the path of a fast-moving train. On that day, he went to the local station with his little bag and positioned himself at the far end of the platform.
Just then, a stranger that was totally oblivious of the young man’s suicide plan spotted and ran towards him. He was running late and was not sure he was on the right platform. So he asked the young man if he knew where the train was destined.
As they waited, the stranger introduced himself to this young man as a missionary who had come to preach the Good News of the risen Saviour, Jesus Christ. This young man had not heard of Jesus Christ before and how great a love He had for all those who came to Him.
He immediately recognised his void could only be filled by this Saviour. Eventually, he received Christ as his Lord and Saviour. What a miracle! This young man became a preacher! Sixty years on, he continues to share the Gospel in India and the Middle East.
He is a dear friend of our family and a living testimony.
Brethren, the world is looking to witness this faith we profess. We must move from simply talking the walk to actually walking it. The way you live may be the only Bible someone gets to read. Christ commissions us to be His witnesses.
When asked of the greatest commandment, Jesus answered, “…you shall love the Lord God with all your mind, with all your soul, and with all your mind. The second is, you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22: 36-40). This Christmas season, I challenge you to find ways to practically share the love of Christ with someone outside your circle.
Just like that missionary I have talked about, you don’t know whose life you could be impacting by simply sharing the love of Christ.
