While going through tough situations, we need to put up a good fight in order to get to the finish line. A good fight means having faith.

For one to put up a good fight, there must be some situation prompting them to put much effort in whatever they are fighting for.

In this quite challenging world, we are bound to face some challenges. This calls for courage and holding on to faith in such situations.

Putting up a good fight may require us to work extraordinarily hard, being exceptional and different in order to succeed in something.

As highlighted in 2 Timothy 4:7, for one to put up a good fight, they must have the faith because faith keeps our hopes alive in order to achieve our dreams.

Paul says: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

One has to be focused on what they really want or otherwise, there is always a possibility of drifting away from their plans or dreams.

When God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gommorrah, He gave instructions to Lot’s family to not look behind but his wife did not heed to this and ended up turning into a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:25-26).

In the same way, we have to look forward and only focus on things that concern us.

Looking at our past failures does us no good. It only ties us to our dark past and keeps us stationary, thereby hindering our success in life.

Rewarding experience
Martin Luther King, a freedom fighter and evangelist, is one of the people who put up a good fight. He is said to have led many revolutions in search for freedom and equality.

In 1955, Martin Luther King led a bus boycott and in his quest for freedom, his home was bombed. He was subjected to personal abuse, but lived to be one of the greatest men in history.

He is considered a world figure, a role model to many and a motivation in the politics arena. This clearly shows there is always light at the end of the tunnel even amidst loss.

I usually take time to reflect upon my life and get amazed by God’s grace which has seen me through some huddles.

In the same way, there are many situations that we have passed through and ask ourselves how we made it through.

Truth be told, amidst every fight, we have to keep the faith. A good fight is the one we fight in the name of our dreams.

Remember you may not be where you want to be, but you are not where you used to be; so, keep the faith because the future is bright for us who believe.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (I Timothy 6:12).
